What is Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a form of manual therapy that aims to restore and maintain the normal function of the body and the relationship between the spine and the nervous system.

The bones of the spine (vertebrae, whose function is to protect the spinal cord, and provide support to the body) when aligned correctly create a clear communication pathway between the brain and the body. When they become misaligned for example from a fall or poor postures, this can interfere with the clear communication and can often result in dysfunction at that segment and present as e.g. lower back pain, sciatica, headaches etc

Chiropractic is the art of locating and correcting mis-alignments via a chiropractic adjustment, aiming to restore healthy communication between the brain and body. This consists of a specific low force movement that is applied with the hands or sometimes specialised instruments to correct a mis-aligned joint.

Chiropractors are 5-year university trained primary allied health professionals and are registered with AHPRA.

Why is it important to get the spine checked? You only have one spine, so it is important to look after it. When you get your spine checked with a chiropractor it is like exercising your spine and making sure it moves well.

Chiropractic is covered by most private health funds and by Medicare's Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plans. Chiropractors are registered providers for DVA patients, as well
as by State workers’ compensation schemes and motor accident insurers.
